This one-day workshop will develop
strategies and policies with the aim of increasing the value of
volunteers in voluntary/community sector organisations. Whether you are
paid worker or a member of a management committee, you will need to
recruit and support volunteers who will help your organisation to
achieve its aims.
Aims Of The Workshop
To encourage participants to develop
strategies and policies which will increase the contribution of
volunteers to the organisation.
To develop an understanding of the organisation and the roles which
volunteers undertake, and thereby make greater, more effective use of
the volunteers.
The Day Will Include:
- an opportunity to re-state your organisations
rationale, mission, aims and goals, and the contribution which
volunteers make to the organisation,
- an understanding of the reasons why volunteers work
in your organisation, and the ways in which they contribute to the
achievement of your organisations aims,
- an opportunity for you to think challengingly about
how your organisation depends on volunteers, and recognises the
value of volunteering in terms of achieving the organisations
aims and objectives,
- an opportunity for developing the way you recruit,
retain, recognise and reward (the four Rs) your volunteers,
- a challenge to consider volunteers as part of the
planning process of your organisation,
- an encouragement to plan realistically for action,
including appropriate, achievable and positive differences which
volunteers can make to the organisation.
Who Should Attend?
This workshop is for any individuals who may
be paid workers, trustees, members of management committees or other
volunteers who wish to enhance the role of volunteers in
voluntary/community sector organisations, by developing strategies and
policies which recognise the value of the contribution of volunteers,
and seeks to improve recruitment, retention, recognition and the reward
for volunteers, and their overall contribution to your organisation.
