Counselling is a
growing profession, and employers in statutory and voluntary
sectors increasingly recognise the importance of some level of
counselling training in a variety of contexts.
This course will
introduce beginners to the basic skills of counselling.
Who should
attend?
Individuals wishing to gain an Introduction to Counselling
Skills. You do not need any previous educational qualification,
but must have an interest in people: their feelings, motivation
and behaviour, and a desire to work with change, growth and
development.

Objectives
This one-day course will consider the following aspects:

counselling? - The difference between counselling and
other helping strategies
- Identifying
own style of working within work and personal settings
- Characteristics
of an effective helper - Recognising your own strengths
and weaknesses
- Focused listening - skills for effective listening, including
paraphrasing, mirroring and questioning
- A three stage
approach to Counselling using an Egan model
- Case studies
and practice
- Opportunities
for further development
About the
trainer
Margaret Dilworth has been running Counselling training
programs for 10 years from basic through to Advanced Diploma
Level. She is an experienced Practitioner.
