Basic Negotiating Skills

This one day course is designed to give participants grounding in the art of effective negotiations.

The workshop will:

  • Look at what Negotiating actually is? So that participants are in agreement with each other
  • To familiarise themselves with a "four-phase" model to apply to the negotiating process
  • To identify a number of key negotiating skills used by effective negotiators
  • Questioning and Listening: To develop participants' questioning and listening skills for negotiating situations
  • Moving to Agreement: To enable participants to use different ways of closing a negotiation to reach an agreement
  • Agreeing What's Been Agreed: To demonstrate the importance of recording agreements and how they have been reached in a negotiation

Learning Environment
Negotiating Skills are a key aspect of Interpersonal Skills; therefore the emphasis will be on interactions with other participants on this workshop. The environment will be challenging, although high support will match the challenge and encourage real personal development.

Who should attend?
Anyone who is involved or wishes to be involved in fundraising whether a minor or a major funding project for an organisation will benefit from these 2 days. A packed course covering many areas are often overlooked.
