Spring Courses

European Social Fund

The VSTU offers a wide range of training opportunities for people in the North East; from short one day courses up to a year long Certificate in Management with linked NVQ4 and many stops in between. Many of the courses are accredited (City & Guilds, Institute of Management, RSA, TROCN). Although we were set up initially to meet the needs of registered charities and community groups, we are also gaining recognition, and number several satisfied customers, in the Statutory and Private Sectors.

With an ever increasing emphasis on both computer skills and information technology in the workplace, and taking advantage of our state of the art computer suite facilities, the VSTU are concentrating heavily on promoting this particular area of learning as essential for workplace development. Computer Training Programme courses within these areas range from beginners through to advanced. The beginners course is the RSA 'CLAIT' - Computer Literacy and Information Technology, topics covered include word-processing, databases, and spreadsheets.

Leading on from this is the level 2 Integrated Business Technology and we are a pilot centre for the new level 3 RSA qualification IBT3. Other courses available include NVQ's at levels 1 to 3, training in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Windows 95, as well as introductory courses on how to 'Surf the Net', and how to design your own Web pages. All of these courses are available at beginners, intermediate, and advanced levels.

Tailor-Made Courses... The VSTU offers a Consultancy Service allowing you to design training to meet your organisation's particular needs. We can adapt existing courses or provide a programme decided in consultation with you and deliver it either in Middlesbrough or at your own venue.

It is the Unit's aim to meet our clients' needs through the highest quality training. To this end we only employ trainers with proven track records and apply, as part of our total quality philosophy, a rigorous evaluation of course contents and facilitation.

Equal Opportunities... We believe that each person has unique intrinsic value regardless of their circumstances or position in society and that training is a development activity accessible to everyone.

The VSTU continues to build upon its success, enabling many people in various sectors and positions to gain important skills and qualifications.

Please feel free to contact us for courses you would like to see running which do not appear in our programme.

The following courses and services are all available at the VSTU from either our own trainers or the Associate Trainers linked to the VSTU and whose experience and skill we can guarantee.
