 Community Empowerment

The VSTU's latest ESF Objective 3 Project, Community Empowerment, aims to develop the capacity of the Tees Valley voluntary and community sector organisations through training and development, customised for individual organisations, to be delivered free to all Tees Valley Groups. Free consultancy on one-to-one basis is also available.

The free training and consultancy covers the following eleven areas:

  • Business and Strategic Planning
  • Organisational Review - Management of Change
  • Leadership/Management
  • Information Communication Technology - including Web Page Design, Advice on the Internet and E-mail
  • Financial Management - using the SAGE financial package
  • Mentoring
  • Advice on NVQ Accreditation
  • Community Work
  • Training the Trainers
  • Employment Legislation - Human Resource Management issues including Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities
  • Management Committee Training

At the five district launch meetings in late January it was explained that free training and development was available in the above areas and free one-to-one consultancy would be available also at the client's place of work - and at times suitable to the organisation.

Over 100 organisations attended the five meetings in Darlington, Stockton, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool and Skelton (covering Redcar and East Cleveland)
