RSA CLAIT
Computer Literacy and Information Technology

CLAIT is an introductory course, over 24 sessions, leading to a basic qualification for anyone who is enthusiastic to learn about computers and three of the main programmes which can be of benefit to any organisation: word processing, databases and spreadsheets.

Topics covered include:

Word Processing: entering and editing text and data, loading and saving text and data, loading and saving text, inserting and moving text, changing the appearance of text (margins, size and style), justification, and using the spell checker.
Databases: creating records, entering and editing data, adding and deleting records, sorting and searching, printing specified data, loading and saving files, working in form view and list view.
Spread sheets: creating a spread sheet, entering data, text and creating formulae to speed up your calculations; extending, and replicating, changing column width, using integer and decimal formats, loading and saving files.

This is a marvellous introduction for anyone new to computers or with a basic knowledge that wants to brush up. If you already have some knowledge of one application (e.g. word processing), you could take the assignment straight away for that element and then concentrate on the other two elements (e.g. databases and spreadsheets). This course is an excellent preparation for further computer application qualifications e.g. IBT2, IBT3 that can also be taken with the VSTU.
